PCB Opens Doors for Free Entry to Last Two Days of Rawalpindi Test

The first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan, which is being hosted in Rawalpindi, will continue for two more days (Days 4 and 5) with free admission for fans, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“The decision was made keeping in view of the weekend, which will allow families and students to turn up in maximum numbers to support their cricketing stars and witness action between the two sides. The ongoing two-match Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25,” the board said in a statement.

The board also made the decision to reimburse the cost of tickets purchased by fans for the final few days of the Test match.

Tony Hemming of Australia was previously appointed by the PCB to the position of head curator for a two-year period.

As part of the World Test Championship Cycle, Hemming will be in charge of pitch preparation for Pakistan’s current home series against Bangladesh and forthcoming series against England.

Zahid will be replaced as chief curator by Hemming. The latter was appointed chief curator in 2021 by previous chairman Ramiz Raja, having served in that capacity from 2004 to 2020.
Conversely, the former has experience working at Melbourne, Perth, and Tasmania (Hobart), among other Australian grounds. From 2007 until 2017, Hemming served as the UAE’s chief curator and was in charge of the pitch’s construction at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan is positioned in the middle of the WTC table; hence, in order to get to the final, they must win their home games.

Unfortunately, Pakistani pitches are biased towards hitters, which has resulted in an excessive number of draws for The Men in Green in home conditions.

In the past, former cricket player Scott Styris of New Zealand expressed his disapproval of the pitches, saying, “In the WTC, winning your home games is your only chance of advancing to the final.” Think of Pakistani cricket as having elegant batters and bowlers who bowl at a real quick tempo.
