ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a 31-year-old Lafayette man who authorities say is wanted in connection with a mid-June kidnapping.
According to a news release Friday, investigators are searching for Troy Neal Mouton Jr., or Mills Road in Lafayette, on charges of second-degree kidnapping and principal to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
One arrest has already been made. Authorities said Beaugh Marcus Demette, of Lafayette, was taken to the St. Landry Parish Jail on Thursday on warrants for principal to second-degree kidnapping and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The charges stem from an incident that was reported on June 19 in the Sunset area, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in the news release.
Demette and Mouton allegedly entered the victim's home "on the pretense of borrowing the victim's truck which was held at an impound lot," Guidroz said.
The two men allegedly demanded money from the victim and forced the victim to go with them to a Lafayette area bank, according to the news release.
" An AR-15 rifle was used to intimidate the victim to cash a check at the bank. The subjects kept the money, retrieved the victim’s vehicle from impound and returned the victim to his home. The vehicle and money were retained by the suspects," Guidroz said.
Arrest warrants were obtained for the two men in late June.
Anyone with additional information about the crime or the whereabouts of Mouton is asked to call the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-948-6516 or Crime Stoppers at 337-948-TIPS.
