RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Valatie man was arrested and is accused of trying to steal commercial-grade cooking equipment. Boice Crawford, 31, faces a third-degree attempted grand larceny.
On Wednesday, around 6:02 a.m., police say a Rensselaer County resident reported seeing a suspect, later identified as Crawford, on their property without permission, attaching their commercial-grade cooking equipment to a vehicle. Police say Crawford and the person driving the vehicle were unknown to the victim.
Police say the victim confronted Crawford before he could remove the equipment, at which point Crawford unhooked it and fled the scene. Schodack Police later found the vehicle involved in another attempted crime in the parking lot of a Schodack Motel. Crawford was taken into custody after a search in the area.
Crawford was taken to Schodack State Police for processing. He was given an appearance ticket to return to the Schodack Town Court and released. An investigation is ongoing.
