CHOOSING a name for your child is not a decision you should take lightly.
However, one woman didn’t see the major issue with her daughter’s name until her friend pointed it out.
The woman called her friend’s pick the ‘absolute worst name’ she had ever heard (stock image)[/caption]In her Reddit post, user nyx-fix shared how stunned she was over the unusual moniker her friend gave her baby.
She revealed that her friend had decided on the name Vaginé for her newborn.
The Reddit user couldn’t get over the shock of hearing the inappropriate sounding name.
“Yes, you read that right,” she told her fellow Reddit users.
“My jaw dropped to the floor just as yours did.”
She pointed out the association everyone tends to make when they hear the name.
“It’s like if vagina and Renée had a horrible love child,” she joked in her post.
She revealed that the mum “eventually changed the poor kid’s name.”
However, she lamented at the amount of time it took for the mum to see reason.
“The fact that nobody could convince her that Vaginé was a terrible idea is so wild,” she said.
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the unique name in the comments section.
“OK, I thought Slim Easy was the worst name ever posted here, but this one takes the cake,” wrote one person.
“Vaj JJ for short,” suggested another reader.
“Vagine would be a great name for a drag queen though,” joked a third Redditor.
“My mom knew a woman who named her kids Regina and Vegina,” shared another person.
Many parents are opting for meaningful names in 2024 with unisex names on the rise due to their unique element, it's hard to categorise them.
With celebrities at the forefront of this growing trend, after Ed Sheeran named his latest addition Jupiter Seaborn, and Kylie Jenner who named her newborn Aire – it would seem having a unique, unisex name is more common than you think.
Unusual baby names documented in 2024 include:
“I know of a woman who named her baby girl Vagina. When asked ‘Like the female body part?’ she gets offended and screams it’s a different word,” said one commenter.
“I work at the welfare office and we had a Vaginee pronounced just like that,” wrote another person.
“My aunt was a librarian and often made the cards. She had two people named Vagina come in, [pronounced] Va-GEE-na,” commented one reader.
“I’ve heard of the name Labia Minora. She was ‘named’ by a medical resident and her uneducated religious parents thought it was beautiful,” shared another Reddit user.
“My mom worked with a lady with that name. She couldn’t believe it!” said one reader.
