Max Homa reminds PGA Tour fans why he is superior on “X” with self-inflicted joke

Homa showed off his personality on X, but he laughed at himself this time, and the fans had a field day over it.

Max Homa does not have his A-game right now on the course. The last couple of months have been downright brutal for him, and he knows it.

Last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he finished dead last.

His poor play continued in Colorado as he competed with the Top 50 FedEx Cup players at the BMW Championship. To start his tournament, he carded a 2-over 74 on Thursday.

Homa chose to make fun of himself the only way he knew how — by clowning himself on X, formerly known as Twitter. He could have kept to himself, but instead, he dropped the mic and reminded everyone how good his banter on the app was.

“Hopped off Twitter a while back cuz I thought it might help my game. Boy, was I wrong. Hoping tomorrow is the day it clicks. At the very least, I’m finally going to grow an ass after walking Castle Pines this week,” Homa wrote in a post after his round on Thursday.

This post marked the first time the former Cal-Berkley golfer had been active on the app since June 15, a day after he missed the cut at the U.S. Open. Homa noted that he took time away from social media because he thought it would help.

However, Homa has not finished inside the Top 25 since he left X.

In the four starts since that week in June, Homa went T-61 at the Travelers Championship, T-70 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T-43 at the Open and of course, 70th at the first playoff event.

The Scottsdale resident acknowledged his bad stretch of golf with humor, which is the Max Homa way.

His joke about growing an ass was hilarious and so off the cuff. Fans loved it and were glad to see Homa back on the app.

Homa has three top 10s and eight Top 25s in 19 starts.

He had a great start to the season, with three top-20s in his first five starts. Homa went on to finish T-8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and T-3 at the Masters in April.

The No. 19 player in the world currently sits at No. 43 in the FedEx Cup standings, so he will need a really good finish to make it to Atlanta for the Tour Championship.

If he does not finish well, his season is over for now. Homa could be a part of the Presidents Cup team, but with his current form, it remains uncertain whether Jim Furyk will select him.

Homa and Sunjae Im tee off at 11:45 a.m. ET for Round 2 of the BMW Championship. There is no cut in the three playoff events, meaning he will play all 72 holes.
