Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan split in 2018, but their divorce still isn’t settled six years later because of their ongoing spousal support battle. They’ve both moved on to other relationships — he’s engaged to Zoë Kravitz, and she’s engaged to Steve Kazee — but there’s no resolution to the financial details of their breakup. Tatum sounds like he is over it, too.
Now, the 44-year-old actor is asking the court to shut down his ex-wife’s request for spousal support, according to In Touch Weekly. Tatum shared that he has made “exhaustive efforts to settle all issues in this matter without litigation,” but there are “significant financial issues in the case [that] remain unresolved.” He blamed Dewan for continuing “to delay resolution and provides one reason after another for why this case cannot settle.”
California is a community property state and much of Tatum’s fortune has come from the Magic Mike franchise which also includes a stage musical, a reality TV series, and a Las Vegas show. Dewan wants to make sure she secures her fair share of that investment that took place during their eight-year marriage. Tatum sounds clearly frustrated by the delays. A source told People in April, “Channing‘s not happy about the latest court drama. He wants it to be over.”
A Dewan representative echoed those sentiments, telling the media outlet, “Jenna would certainly like him to do the right thing so everyone can be done with it.” The couple’s child support issues have long been settled for their daughter, Everly, 11. According to the court documents, Tatum pays for “all of Everly’s school tuition, health insurance, and the vast majority of her out-of-pocket medical expenses, extracurricular activities, and other expenses.”
There still is no resolution in sight, but Tatum is promising the court that his ex-wife won’t be suffering financially. She will “have substantial investment income from the cash assets she has received in our divorce,” their real estate portfolio, and other residuals and royalties. If they can get their divorce settled, it would also allow them the freedom to marry their respective partners. For now, the case is still brewing and there is no end in sight.
