The opening duo of Mankad and Roy is one of the best opening pairs to ever feature for India in Test cricket. Both of them smashed centuries and decimated the New Zealand bowling attack. Mankad would go on to score a double-ton and got dismissed on 231 while Roy was dismissed on 173. This opening stand carried India to a massive first inning total of 537.
After Pakistan posted a mammoth total of 679, the main job of the Indian batters was to not give away their wickets cheaply and survive the Test and that is exactly what Sehwag and Dravid did. The opening duo took the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners with their amazing batting performance. Sehwag scored a fabulous 254 while Dravid on the other end remained unbeaten on 128 as the Test was drawn with India at 410/1.
After being forced to follow-on by the Aussies, India was again in a tricky situation at 232/4 when Laxman and Dravid formed a stand for the ages. The duo of Vijay and Pujara proved to be too good for the Australian bowlers in Hyderabad. Pujara would go on to score a double-century while Vijay would also contribute greatly with his knock of 167 as India posted a huge total of 503. As a result, India would force Australia to follow-on and then the Indian bowlers would bowl out Australia for 131 runs to win the match by an innings and 135 runs.
Rahane and Kohli’s incredible partnership carried India from 100/3 to a total of over 450. Both the players smacked the Kiwi bowlers around the park and went on to score centuries. Kohli would score a magnificent double-ton and would be dismissed on 211 while Rahane also played an amazing knock of 188 runs. Rohit Sharma’s half-century only added insult to injury for the Black Caps as India declared on 557/5.
