Mindy Kaling Supports Kamala Harris in Monique Luillier D’Orsay Pumps at Democratic National Convention

Mindy Kaling spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 21 in support of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ presidential bid, wearing black Monique Lhuillier D’Orsay pumps with a navy sheath dress from the same designer.

Kaling looked polished in the luxury brand’s short sleeve lace sheath dress made of fabric referred to as Night Sky Guipure Tulip lace. Falling near her calves, the dress featured a scoop neckline and sheer sleeves; the lace scalloped detailing added textural complexity to the outfit. Like many attendees at the DNC, Kaling’s choice of apparel aligned with the color representative of the party.

For her footwear, Kaling selected Monique Lhuillier’s $525 Audrey Suede Crystal D’Orsay heel in the shade noir. The shoe features an open-toe design with a thin crystal-adorned strap across the toes, adding a glamorous focal point to the footwear. The otherwise minimalistic design follows the silhouette of a D’Orsay pump, meaning the vamp is decreased in size or missing entirely along the side of the shoe. On this particular pump, the inner side is missing while the outer side is lowered in a curved outline. Meanwhile, the back of the foot is enclosed, creating a contrasting effect leaving the middle of the foot uncovered.

The D’Orsay pump has been worn by other prominent names in the entertainment industry like Rita Ora, who wore a metallic silver pair earlier this year, and Oprah Winfrey, who slipped on a purple pair from Manolo Blahnik for the Golden Globes this year.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention has thus far showcased a range of elegant blue outfits and complementary footwear, from Michelle Obama’s black Jimmy Choo pumps to Gwen Walz’s navy suede pumps. Jill Biden turned heads in a more celebratory and glittery pair from Jimmy Choo earlier this week.
