According to LaViola.it, Tottenham Hotspur hold a serious interest in Fiorentina goalkeeper Tommaso Martinelli, who could be available on a late transfer.
It has been suggested over recent days that Spurs could bring in a goalkeeper through the door before the window slams shut.
This claim was made most recently by Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe, who took to social media to reveal that Martinelli is someone that the Lilywhites admire.
This claim has now been backed up by Laviola.it, who talk up the chances of the 18-year-old making a move to the North London club.
The report says that the teenager is now considering his future after Fiorentina decided to sign David de Gea, while Pietro Terracciano has chosen to remain at the club.
Spurs have thus emerged as an option for Martinelli, with the Premier League side’s interest in the goalkeeper described as ‘serious’.
The publication adds that Ange Postecoglou’s men have kept a keen eye on the Italy Under-19 international’s performances for Fiorentina’s youth teams.
Spurs Web Opinion
It seems like Tottenham are trying to future-proof the goalkeeping position, with this season likely to be Fraser Forster’s last at the club.
It does not seem as though Postecoglou considers either Brandon Austin or Alfie Whiteman to be a reliable enough future second choice.
