A man was kicked off a flight and arrested after the crew asked him to leave when he wouldn't change a bloody bandage on his head

A 27-year-old man and his female companion face charges of trespassing and resisting arrest without violence for refusing to leave the Las Vegas-bound plane.
  • A man and his companion were arrested after refusing to leave an American Airlines flight.
  • The man was asked to leave the plane after saying he wasn't able to change the bandages on his bloodied head.
  • A mugshot of the man shows his bloodied head, which Sky News reported was the result of a hair transplant.

A man and his companion were removed from an American Airlines flight this week and arrested after he apparently refused to clean up his bloodied head.

Staff on board the American Airlines flight from Miami to Las Vegas became concerned when they noticed that the man, named as Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, was bleeding from the forehead.

Local Miami outlet Local10 News, an ABC affiliate, first reported the news.

According to a screenshot of an arrest report viewed by Business Insider, airline staff asked him to clean up the blood and replace the bandages with fresh ones to prevent body fluid contamination. The 27-year-old from Las Vegas said he did not have any clean bandages.

Crew members then insisted that Hernandez-Garnier deboard the plane. He and his female companion, Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, refused to disembark.

A spokesperson for American Airlines told Business Insider: "During boarding of American Airlines flight 1858 on Aug. 19 with service from Miami (MIA) to Las Vegas (LAS), two customers became disruptive and were non-compliant with crew member instructions. Law enforcement responded and removed both customers from the aircraft."

According to the arrest report, Loyola told crew members "that if they could not fly, no one else can either."

Police were called to the plane and warned the pair that they would be arrested if they did not comply. Both once again refused.

Blanca Loyola started live-streaming the incident on TikTok and was seen explaining that Hernandez-Garnier had just had surgery. A mugshot of Hernandez-Garnier published by Miami-Dade police shows his bloodied head, which Sky News reported was the result of a hair transplant.

The two each face two charges of trespassing and resisting arrest without violence, according to records published online by the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts.

As a result of the incident, the American Airlines flight was significantly delayed. According to data from Flightradar24, the plane was scheduled to depart at around 9 p.m. local time on August 19 but did not depart until around 6:45 a.m. on August 20.
