'How ironic': J.D. Vance faces blowback after his Tim Walz criticism is applied to Trump
Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance faced a furious onslaught of criticism late Wednesday night after he appeared on CNN and complained that Gov.Tim Walz's stirring acceptance speech amounted to whining.
Speaking with host Jake Tapper, the Ohio senator, at one point stated, "I just don't understand a person in American politics in 2024 who is whining about what happened to them instead of using their leadership and influence to make the lives of American citizens better."
That led many critics on X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out that his criticism could easily be applied to his running mate, former president Donald Trump.

As frequent Trump critic Scott Dworkin put it, "It’s weird he thinks this is a good response."
"He’s basically just repeating Obama’s speech about Trump here." journalist Laura Bassett observed.
"Who’s gonna tell him who his running mate is…." I Love You Maine wrote.
"Ah, Vance's critique sounds almost tailor-made for Trump! It's almost as if he's describing a leader who specializes in whining about personal grievances instead of actually improving lives. How ironic," pointed out Dump Trumpism.
Peter Heinlen wrote, "FFS man. Every other day this guy makes what would be a highly accurate and insightful criticism of Trump and applies it to someone else," which led AM to observe, "What is he talking about? The old racist and convicted felon is the mother of all the whiners in the universe."
"He probably shouldn’t mock Trump, lest he find himself with a noose around his neck, after all he’s on the ticket with a felon with more charges to come soon," Dark Matter Queen added.
