Speaking at the event, the dental nurse opened up about the public’s response to the series but couldn’t resist making a dig at her former partner.
She told interviewer Indigo Stafford: “The opinions have been really difficult, like the hate, because everyone’s team Freddie,” before adding: “and I’m also team Freddie.
“So yeah, my life has done a 180, but I’m in such a good position, and I wouldn’t change it.”
Unfortunately, things don’t work out for Catherine and Freddie, but she insists that they are both still “such good friends”.
However, later in the interview, she is asked: “Is he [Freddie] genuinely as nice as he seems, because he seems like the nicest guy?”
Catherine took a moment to pause before replying: “In terms of being the nicest guy, look, everyone’s got two sides.
“Freddie is Freddie, and he is lovely as a friend, and I’ll keep it at that.”
Viewers had watched Catherine and Freddie grow close on the series.
The pair bonded over their shared family values and love of fitness, before travelling with the rest of the group to Corfu.
But after having a great time on the retreat – things took a sharp turn when they learned more about their past relationships.
After asking Freddie if he’s ever been unfaithful in his previous relationships, he replied: ”Yeah, I have cheated.
”I came into this experiment saying I’m going to be truthful, I’m going to be honest, I’m going to be me.”
According to the hunk from Bolton, he never brought it up to his now ex-partner but she found out the devastating news herself.
”It’s a massive regret in my life and I wish it never happened, and I’ve thought about it loads, loads, loads,” he said in tonight’s episode of the reality series.
Although Catherine appreciated the honesty, she admitted that the bombshell news was ”hard to hear”.
”I’ve always been the one to say ‘One’s a cheat, always a cheat’ – and I kind of stick by that.
”It does worry me,” she bravely opened up later, chatting about her former dating experience.
Despite trying to continue their relationship, the pair soon decided that they would be better off as friends and called off their wedding.
Elsewhere, fans of the show can now rejoice as it has been announced the Netflix show is returning for a second season.
Daisy Lilley, the Director of Unscripted UK Programming at Netflix, said: “The response to Season 1 has been fantastic, and we are thrilled to go again on Season 2.
“We’re delighted that Matt and Emma Willis will be back as hosts as more hopeful couples navigate the highs and lows of this unique love experiment.”
While there’s been no official start date for series two, it’s set to land in 2025.
