STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) — A former Cushing teacher sent to jail for sexting an underage girl is back in jail after police said he raped a 16-year-old girl.
On August 1, Stillwater Police were called to Wings of Hope.
"Wings of Hope, it's our local crisis center here in Stillwater," said T.J Low with Stillwater Police Department.
That's where a mother turned for help after her 16-year-old daughter said she was assaulted in July by former Cushing Middle School teacher Seth Swaim.
Court documents reveal the girl told officers she had stopped at a convenience store to get gas when she saw Swaim in his truck and struck up a conversation.
Swaim allegedly asked her to hop into his truck to talk more and then he moved his truck to a secluded side of the building.
The probable cause affidavit says she felt uncomfortable and tried to get out, but Swaim pulled the door shut, held her down, and assaulted her, despite her begging him to stop.
Swaim is currently on probation for a previous sex crime convicted of sexting a 13-year-old girl back in 2018 while he was a teacher at Cushing Middle School.
Swaim served one year in jail and got 10 years of probation.
"A lot of us are parents ourselves, we have kids around the juvenile age and even younger that. We do get reports of this, it does happen in Stillwater, and it is very, very haunting to hear about it," said Low.
Swaim hasn't been employed by Cushing Schools since 2018.
He is currently still in jail with an $100,000 bond and is due back in court on August 22.
