CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) -- Two teenagers wanted in connection with a July 24 drive-by shooting were also involved in string of vehicle burglaries in Church Point, authorities said.
Jason Hopkins Jr., 17, and Jamarcus Lordan, 18, both of Church Point, are wanted on charges stemming from a series of car burglaries on July 31 in the Coolidge Street, Voitier Street and Marie Street areas.
They, along with Davonte Jenkins, 20, and Savion Z. Chavis, 19, both of Church Point, are also suspects in a drive-by shooting July 24 in the 300 block of St. Jude Street.
At approximately 11:34 p.m. July 24, Church Point Police received calls of shots fired in the 300 block of St Jude Street. Upon officers responding it was learned that the victim had been taken to the hospital. The victim received 2 shots, one to the arm near his elbow and the other to his upper thigh, and went into surgery.
Investigators said surveillance footage assisted in determining what type and color the vehicle which fired the shots was. Upon further investigation it was learned that the vehicle had been stolen from the Sunset area on July 20.
Police said three guns from different vehicles, a Toyota Tacoma and a Nissan Altima were stolen July 31. With the aid of electronics equipped in the vehicle Church Point Police officers were able to see that the Nissan Altima was in the Breaux Bridge area. Breaux Bridge Police and Church Point officers were able to locate the stolen Nissan and return it to its owner. The Toyota Tacoma is still missing and has not been recovered as of this time, authorities said.
Two other suspects are still being investigated for this same incident and more arrests are pending, police said.
