Over 65 lakh students nationwide did not pass class 10 and 12 board exams last year, with state boards showing a higher failure rate than the central board. An analysis of results from 59 school boards revealed more girls taking class 12 exams in government schools but fewer in private and government-aided schools. Student failure rates were significantly higher in state boards compared to the central board, impacting retention rates and Gross Enrolment Ratio at the higher secondary level.
