Robbie Keane has admitted that he was shocked by the dip in performance in the second half from Tottenham, remarking that Ange Postecoglou would have delivered some harsh words to the players in the dressing room after the full-time whistle.
The game almost resembled a training exercise in the first half, with Leicester City just happy to defend their own box as Tottenham hit them with wave after wave of attack.
The Foxes hardly managed to get into Spurs’ third of the pitch during the first 45 minutes but the Lilywhites were quite wasteful in front of goal, going into the interval just 1-0 up.
The tie turned in the second half as the home side got some joy on the break, with the Tottenham defence looking susceptible every time the possession got turned over.
Jamie Vardy equalised for the home side just before the hour mark with an unmarked header at the far post.
Things could have got even worse for Spurs as the experienced striker had a gilt-edged opportunity to win it for his side but failed to beat Guglielmo Vicario from a tight angle.
Keane insisted that the North London club were always going to get punished for failing to make their dominance count.
Reacting to Postecoglou’s post-match interview, the former Spurs striker told Optus Sport: “I do get it’s your first game of the season, but in the Premier League if you don’t take your chances against these teams where you should be winning the game, you see what happens, you get punished.
“He (Postecoglou) is fairly angry there, he’s upset, he’s disappointed because he knew one goal wasn’t enough. The second-half performance was poor and I think he would have had a few harsh words in the dressing room about it. The dip from Spurs in the second half was incredible.”

While the 20-minute spell from around the 55th minute until around the 75th minute was quite poor, I thought there were positives to take from the way we controlled the game.
Had the likes of Son, Solake and Johnson been a little more clinical with their final pass or shot, we could have breezed to a 4-0 win.
