A Slovakian woman had the chance of a lifetime to sing onstage with American rapper Macklemore in front of tens of thousands of people, but there was one major problem—she was wanted by the police.
Macklemore was performing at the LOVESTREAM festival in Bratislava on Saturday night when the 24-year-old woman was randomly selected from the audience to sing alongside him, according to a Facebook post by Slovakia's police force.
The force said in the post that the woman, who ultimately accepted the offer to join the "Thrift Shop" rapper in the impromptu duet, appeared to have "forgotten" that she was on a wanted list.
Police said the woman flagged the experience on social media, which caught the attention of somebody who recognized her from the Slovakian Interior Ministry's wanted list. They quickly reported her to the police.
The police said they let the song finish before detaining the woman.
While the police did not disclose the specifics of her crime, Slovakian media reported that she was a bartender who, in 2019, disrupted a soccer match by running onto the field topless.
According to the local outlet PLUS 7 DNI, the woman spent a weekend in a pre-trial detention center at the time, and was charged with disorderly conduct, barred from attending similar events, and fined the equivalent of almost $900.
But it said she did not pay the fine, resulting in a prison sentence.
PLUS 7 DNI reported that police had been looking for the woman since June.
