According to Monday’s print edition of Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), there is some disagreement internally at Barcelona regarding whether they should make a move for Sergio Reguilon.
The report says that the Tottenham player has emerged as a potential late target for Barca, who are short of options at left-back.
Currently, Alejandro Balde is the only recognised left-back at Camp Nou and while Hansi Flick has confidence in him, he is also looking to add another player in that position.
That is where Reguilon comes in, with the report pointing out that the Spain international is on his way out of Tottenham since he is now into the final year of his contract.
The full-back states that the 28-year-old is not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans and is seen as an ‘affordable market option’ by Barca.
However, not everyone at the Catalan club agrees, with the club’s sporting director, Deco, preferring to bring in a left-winger rather than a left-back.
With Deco and Flick thus not agreeing on this transfer pursuit, it is explained that Reguilon’s move to the La Liga giants looks complicated at the moment.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite clear that Reguilon will have a few options to choose from in the dying stages of the window.
I would be surprised if he went to Barca as the 28-year-old’s priority should be to get regular game time at his next club.
