Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso has already turned down approaches from various clubs this summer as the race for the midfielder’s signature heats up in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
Many outlets over the last week have named Real Betis and Aston Villa as the two clubs leading the race for Lo Celso’s signature.
This includes TyC Sports, who asserted a few days ago that the midfielder is certain to leave Spurs and that both Betis and Villa had already submitted offers for the player.
The publication suggested that the Argentina international is now expected to decide between a return to Beits and re-uniting with Unai Emery at Villa Park.
Lo Celso is also thought to be generating interest from Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC (Daily Mail) while AS Roma have also been named as a potential destination for the player (El Chiringuito).

Romano has confirmed that as things stand, Betis and Villa are the clubs at the front of the queue for the 28-year-old.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “For Lo Celso, there are two possibilities – Aston Villa and Real Betis.
“He rejected some options out of Europe as an opportunity in the recent days, and so let’s see what’s going to happen. But I think Tottenham could still do business.”

Lo Celso’s priority at this stage of his career should be regular game time and there is no guarantee that he will get that at Villa.
The player might thus be leaning towards the familiar comforts of Betis and La Liga.
