Earlier this week, everyone was heartbroken that reports claimed Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin had split up after seven years together. But no, no; their reps immediately revealed that no, the pair are still happily together! And if you need any more proof that they’re still going strong, Johnson herself made a rare move to prove they’re happy together.
In photos obtained by People on Aug 16, Johnson was seen out and about with her pal Jeremy Allen White and Blake Lee in Malibu, Calif. While we loved her ensemble, our eyes, as well as many fans’ eyes, spotted her hand: where she sported her rarely-seen emerald engagement ring!
As well as Martin and Johnson being private about their relationship, Johnson doesn’t wear her engagement ring all the time, like many people! But it’s a beaut! An expert at Steven Stone Jewelers named Zack Stone estimated that the ring “could easily be worth $504,000,” per Her.ie. It’s reportedly an 8-10 carat oval cut emerald in a halo setting, and the emerald has so much meaning behind it.
Johnson and Martin have been at the center of breakup rumors for years now, with random sources claiming time and time again that they’re split. But no, Johnson is putting her foot down with the latest false claim but showing everyone she and Martin are truly happily engaged.
For those who don’t know, the lovebirds started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends. They didn’t confirm their relationship until a year later, and they moved in together in 2021. Earlier in 2024, it was rumored they were engaged, and while neither have publicly commented on it, many insiders claim that to be the case.
In a previous interview with Bustle, she gave rare details about their romance, talking about how much she adores seeing him perform. “I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know… I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing. When people are really good at things, it is [sexy.]”
Now, will we ever hear intimate details about their romance from Johnson? Probably not. In a recent interview with SheKnows for her new movie Daddio, Johnson talked about how she’s a “vault,” and that’s just with her co-star Sean Penn!
“I learned so much and I’ll never say,” she said about Penn. “I know things that the Internet would love to know. I’m a vault.”
