SHE took a glance at her baby monitor, and what she saw had her racing inside.
But when Maddy got into her front room, she couldn’t believe what a massive mistake she’d made.
Maddy took to TikTok to share a picture of the image she had seen on the camera, which appeared to show the jungle beast on his forearms, standing just in front of the sofa.
“Just checking my baby monitor to see a MASSIVE GORILLA IN MY HOUSE????” she wrote over the top.
“I went running inside to find…”
The next image then showed what she had come across when she’d raced into the house.
While she struggled to figure out where the animal had gone, she eventually found that her son’s toy gorilla had been left close to the monitor camera – giving the illusion that the ape was in her house.
“I’ve never moved so fast to go and see what the heck was making it look like that!” Maddy laughed.
The comments section was almost immediately filled with people left in hysterics by her hilarious mishap.
“Now I know how this looks, I’m forever going to prank you,” one wrote.
To which Maddy replied: “Please don’t because I was really panicking!”
“This actually made me cry laughing,” another added.
“I have in fact not stopped laughing about this since it happened,” Maddy replied.
“This had no business making me laugh the way it did,” someone else said.
“No bc can you imagine if it wasn’t there when you went to check? Like the befuddlement!” another laughed.
“When I went in to find absolutely nothing I was so confused and thought maybe my monitor got hacked,” Maddy responded.
“The toy was so small it took me a bit to realise it was from THAT small toy!”

THEY were designed to offer parents peace of mind, and enable them to keep a close eye on their child without being in the same room.
But using a baby monitor has also resulted in some parents catching some bizarre incidents on camera – like Maddy’s gorilla mistake.

“I once caught the babysitter taking the baby’s blanket, putting it around her neck like a small cape, and ‘flying’ around the room with it on,” Reddit user gooblagoobla wrote on the site.
“Keep in mind, the baby could only see out of the crib and was not present for the show.
“Needless to say, we found out she was often high during babysitting.”
Supernatural goings on
“I look at the baby monitor and see a ghost… My brain jumps. Should I go grab my son? This can’t be real. Should I get my camera? No one will believe it. I don’t believe it!” Ecafyelims wrote on Reddit.
“Is the ghost going to hurt the baby? I can’t believe this is happening.
“Will the ghost hurt the baby if I interrupt? Think logically. It’s not a ghost. It’s not a glitch.
“It’s definitely in the room hovering over the baby. Think. Breath. Calm. Think.
“Oh, it’s the camera light reflecting off the vapor from the humidifier we installed this morning.”
Animal magic
“A buddy of mine had a kid at the beginning of last year, and he discovered that both his cat and his beagle would climb into the crib with the baby occasionally during naps,” Reddit user Crushing2013 wrote.

“Both animals made it a habit to climb in, kick/push the baby to the very side of the crib and curl up in the middle completely alone.
“You’d catch them glaring at the kid if he started to roll back over and invade their space!”
Spot the baby
“I managed to record my son playing peek-a-boo with himself just before going to sleep,” dad Samuelk1 wrote on Reddit.
“It was super cute. The video starts with him sitting in his crib, laughing with his blanket over his head.
“He whips the blanked off and laughs, then does it a couple more times, until finally grabbing his stuffed bunny and flopping onto the bed to go to sleep.”
Relationship breakdown
“Overheard my 8-year-old son breaking up with his girlfriend of 4 years,” mum Noreasterner laughed.
“She came over for a play date just to break the news to him that since most likely they will end up with different teachers it will be hard to maintain relationships and perhaps would be a good idea to start seeing other people.
“I asked him if he was ok afterwards and he said, ‘Yeah, she was only my backup anyways.'”
“I would’ve died out of shock I think!” another admitted.
