The Biggest Announcements Out of D23’s Entertainment Showcase
Incredibles 3! Frozen 3 and 4! The Seed Bearer found dead in a ditch! Patti Lupone! The entertainment showcase at D23 2024 was full of big announcements. Mostly about sequels, but also about robot beavers. Here’s the biggest news and latest trailers from D23 Expo.
Moana 2
The D23 Entertainment panel kicked off with a song from Moana 2 (that is, after a standing ovation for Bob Iger). Auli’i Cravalho was flanked by hula dancers as she sang a song about getting back to who we are meant to be. Then Dwayne Johnson came out to thunderous applause. “Maui’s singing again,” he said.
Incredibles 3 and Toy Story 5

All that’s really known about Incredibles 3 is that Brad Bird is developing the concept. Toy Story 5 has more deets avail. The toys will be facing off against “tech,” joining the Mission Impossible movies as Hollywood’s alarm siren against AI. Also there will be 50 Buzz Lightyears stuck in toy mode, who are going to be a real problem.
Agatha All Along
An entire dang coven of chaos went on stage to introduce the trailer for Agatha All Along. The D23 cameras focused on lead Kathryn Hahn, which is nice! But Patti Lupone was right there. Singing. Patti Lupone singing in the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks! Anyway, Agatha All Along comes to Disney+ September 18.
Captain America: Brave New World

Two important things were revealed in the latest Captain America: Brave New World trailer. Well, three if you count each of Harrison Ford-as-Red Hulk’s hairy pecs. The third is Adamantium. The element has been absent from the MCU (it’s been a Vibranium-heavy franchise) but it’s coming on a meteor when Captain America: Brave New World opens

Have you seen the season 10 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank?” No? Too bad, because it’s pretty close to the premise of Hoppers. The film will star Piper Curda as a young woman who puts her brain in the body of a robotic beaver. Robobeaver befriends the King Beaver (Bobby Moynihan) who faces off against the evil mayor (Jon Hamm) who wants to pave paradise the beaver dam and put up a parking lot.
Zootopia 2
Get ready for the predator-prey metaphor to get even more overextended, because Zootopia 2 is introducing reptiles! Ke Huy Quan will play criminal snake Gary.
Avatar: Fire and Ash

Rest in peace, Seed Bearer. We hardly knew ye. Avatar: Fire and Ash promises a new villain James Cameron says we’ll “love to hate.” Spoiler, the real villain is probably still colonialism.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
The Camp Halfblood kids went on the D23 stage to announce that they’ve just started production on season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. S2 will cover book 2 of the series, The Sea of Monsters.
