Known for playing one of the toughest schedules year-in and year-out, Razorback head coach Brad McMakin has once again put together an impressive slate or the 2024-25 season.
FAYETTEVILLE – Known for playing one of the toughest schedules year-in and year-out, Razorback head coach Brad McMakin has once again put together an impressive slate for the 2024-25 season.
Three of the Razorbacks’ four fall events will be televised on GOLF Channel and the spring schedule features a consecutive string at three of the toughest events in college golf with the Cabo Collegiate, Seminole Intercollegiate and the Valspar Collegiate. In fact, last year’s Valspar was the top-rated event in college golf and Cabo was rated fifth.
“We always strive to challenge our players and program while also playing at the top courses in the country,” McMakin said. “This year’s schedule will be among the best in my time here.
“We are grateful to Mr. John Tyson for allowing us to host the Blessings Collegiate Invitational so we can showcase our facility and programs both locally and globally with it being televised on the GOLF Channel. Also, we can’t thank Rodger and B.A. Kline enough for their tireless work to continually make the Cabo Collegiate one of, if not the, most desirable destinations and events in the game.
“We will have our youngest team over the last 10 years, so this schedule will test us and prepare us for another postseason run,” McMakin said.
Headlining the fall portion is Arkansas’ own Blessings Collegiate Invitational, presented by Tyson Foods. The 5th annual BCI will be played Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Razorbacks’ home and be televised on GOLF Channel each day. The BCI is a unique event in college golf as the men and women will be playing the same course at the same time and each team will have all five of its members playing in the same groups. This year’s 10-team field includes Arkansas, BYU, Kansas State, Kent State, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State and Virginia Tech. Last year, Arkansas swept the men’s team, men’s individual, women’s team, women’s individual, combined team and combined best ball titles.
The Razorbacks’ fall opener and finale will also be on GOLF Channel. For the second straight year, Arkansas opens the season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate (Sept. 9-11).
After the BCI, Arkansas will play in the Hamptons Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8). The event is new to the Hogs’ schedule and will be played at one of the most prestigious venues in America – Maidstone Country Club in East Hampton, N.Y.
The fall season will conclude at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The fourth annual event will be played at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club from Oct. 21-23 and will be televised on GOLF Channel.
To open the spring, Arkansas returns to Puerto Rico to defend its title at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate (Feb. 9-11).
Then, Arkansas heads to Mexico to host the 15th annual Cabo Collegiate from Mar. 2-4 at Twin Dolphin Club. Last year, the field featured nine of the of the nation’s top 20 teams including six of the top 10. Once again, the field will have the top teams in collegiate golf including the host Razorbacks, Arizona State, Baylor, Cal, Florida State, Houston, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Rice, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt.
DID YOU KNOW: Nine Cabo Collegiate alumni played in the 2024 Olympics and a total of 11 players have combined to make 16 Olympic appearances. Cabo alumni Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa have combined to win six majors.
The gauntlet continues Mar. 10-11 at Florida State’s Seminole Intercollegiate, played this year at Glen Arven (Thomasville, Ga.) Country Club and ends Mar. 24-25 at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. Last year’s 16-team Valspar had 14 of the top 50 teams in the country including 12 of the to 25.
For the first time, the Razorbacks will play at the one-day, 36-hole Columbia Spring Invitational on Mar. 31 at Rolling Green Golf Club outside of Philadelphia. The regular season concludes April 14-15 at Virginia’s Lewis Chitengwa Memorial.
The SEC Championship returns to St. Simons Island, Ga., and the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. Stroke play is April 23-25 with the top eight teams advancing to match play April 26-27.
The NCAA Regionals are set for May 12-14 and the Championships run from May 23-28.
