Moment defendant tells judge to ‘kiss my a**’ and is slapped with more jail time

Up Next

A defendant who dared a judge to ‘kiss my a**’ and fired off a series of expletives was hit back with more than a year of jail time.

Darrell Jarrell, who faced a misdemeanor trespassing charge, had an outburst before Washtenaw County Judge Cedric Simpson that did not help his case.

‘I’m tired of this state. I’m ready to leave this state as soon as possible,’ Jarrell said in his pre-trial hearing in a Michigan court that was video recorded.

‘It’s trespassing. I could technically leave, and you guys could issue a warrant and as long as I don’t return, you can just kiss my a**.’

Jarrell did not stop there, and instead continued swearing.

‘You know what? No, no, no,’ Simpson cut in on Wednesday. ‘I’m going to tell you what, you don’t come in here…’

As Jarrell’s expletives were bleeped, including ‘f*** you’, the judge said. ‘OK that’s contempt, that’s 93. Keep going. That’s another 93.’

Jarrell wound up with six consecutive 93 days behind bars for contempt of court that amounted to 558 days.

He was led away by courtroom guards in handcuffs.

Jarrell launched into the rant because he was upset about his court date, as the judge said his lawyers were not able to get in contact with him and that resulted in a delay, reported Fox 2 Detroit.

The next defendant in line to face the judge, Keith Jenkins on Zoom, had his mouth open in shock watching the wild scene unfold.

Jenkins had a far more light-hearted interaction with the judge.

‘How are you doing, your honor? How are you doing, sir?’ he said.

Simpson replied with a laugh, ‘I’m doing great!’

The judge has presided over weird hearings before.

In May, Simpson was surprised when a defendant busted for driving with a suspended license showed up in a Zoom hearing while driving a car.

Simpson’s courtroom is not the only one where bizarre episodes have unfolded.

At the start of the year, a defendant went viral after jumping over a bench at Las Vegas Judge Mary Kay Holthus and punching her before being pulled off.
