From shocking dramas to tense thrillers, belly-laugh comedy to the return of some of our favourite reality telly, there is something for everyone.

Here, we pick out the best viewing you can look forward to.

Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff returns with Field Of Dreams on BBC One from Tuesday.

In the first series, the former fast bowler discovered untapped cricketing talent in his home town of Preston.

Now he is taking the young hopefuls to India to give them their first taste of the international game.

Filming of the series had been delayed due to Freddie’s Top Gear car crash which left him with life-altering injuries in December 2022.

Also starting next week is the fourth series of comedy drama Emily In Paris.

The American PR girl, played by Lily Collins, heads to Rome — and there is even some Eurovision action.

Netflix will begin streaming the first half of the series on Thursday, with the second part available from September 12.

The BBC dominates most of the season’s dramas, kicking off with new action thriller Nightsleeper, which takes place in real time.

Security boss Abby Aysgarth (Killing Eve’s Alexandra Roach) teams up with an off-duty cop, played by Gangs Of London star Joe Cole, to save the lives of passengers on a train after a cyber attack on the rail network.

The series, which also stars former EastEnder Alex Ferns, begins on BBC One next month.

Also on BBC One, Dope Girls is set in the hedonistic world of nightclubs in London’s Soho between the two world wars.

The lives of undercover cop Violet Davies (Eliza Scanlen) and bohemian dancer Umi Myers (Billie Cassidy) are transformed by nightclub founder Kate Galloway (Julianne Nicholson) who is embracing the criminal lifestyle.

Historical drama Wolf Hall returns later in the year, on BBC One, with original cast members Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis and Jonathan Pryce.

New instalment The Mirror And The Light centres on the rising tensions following the beheading of King Henry VIII’s second wife Anne Boleyn, with Thomas Cromwell trying to climb to power.

There’s scheming of a more modern kind in banking-and bonking saga Industry.

Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harington plays Henry Muck, who is after investors’ cash for his green energy firm.

The third series begins in the US tomorrow and is expected to appear on BBC One soon.

Competing with the Beeb’s drama roster is ITV1’s Joan — the story of a real-life diamond thief, which airs next month.

Sophie Turner plays fiery Joan Hannington, who manages to escape a disastrous marriage in her twenties — but will her life of crime stop her from getting custody of her daughter?

Also on ITV1, Davina McCall returns next month as host of the Bafta-nominated dating show My Mum, Your Dad, featuring kids of middle-aged singletons helping their parents to find love.

The network will welcome back Big Brother in October, following its successful return to our screens last year.

Another group of hopefuls will once again gather at the house — which has been revamped for this series — to be filmed round the clock and face public elimination each week. AJ Odudu and Will Best return as hosts.

If you are looking for dark laughs, try Generation Z, starring comedian Johnny Vegas, The Royle Family’s Sue Johnston and EastEnders legend Anita Dobson.

Expected to air in the autumn, the six-episode Channel 4 comedy is set in a care home, where a chemical leak turns its elderly residents into flesh-eating zombies who prey on the young.

Meanwhile on Channel 5 Kara Tointon embarks on an affair with a colleague in The Teacher and lands herself in hot water when a pupil goes missing.

The drama, which airs next month, also features Will Mellor and Peaky Blinders’ Emmett J Scanlan.

Over on Netflix from September 5, a body is found on the beach and family secrets start to unravel in The Perfect Couple.

The adaptation of the 2018 novel of the same name has an all-star cast which includes Nicole Kidman, Dakota Fanning, Liev Schreiber and Eve Hewson.

If Greek myths are more your thing, Jeff Goldblum and Billie Piper have teamed up for Kaos — a reimagining of ancient stories of the gods.

Three mortals learn that they have become part of an ancient prophecy which they must fulfil to satisfy the ever-paranoid Zeus on Mount Olympus.

Janet McTeer, Nabhaan Rizwan, Debi Mazar and Leila Farzad also star in the series, which will be available from August 29 on Netflix.

Appearing a little later than that is the return of the streaming service’s popular political thriller The Diplomat.

Fans have watched seasoned foreign service officer Kate Wyler (actress Keri Russell) discover that the Prime Minister was involved in an attack on a warship and now, in the show’s second series, she has to prove it. The drama returns on Halloween.

There’s more political intrigue in The Day Of The Jackal, Sky Atlantic’s contemporary reimagining of the 1973 thriller.

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne is the elusive lone assassin who meets his match in the form of a British intelligence officer.

Charles Dance and No Time To Die’s Lashana Lynch also star in the series, starting on November 7.

A Very Royal Scandal, Prime Video’s take on Prince Andrew’s car crash 2019 Newsnight interview, will air in October.

It comes six months after Netflix released Scoop, the first retelling of the BBC’s probing of Andrew’s relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Michael Sheen plays the Duke of York, who is grilled by Ruth Wilson as Emily Maitlis.

The Crown’s Alex Jennings and Eanna Hardwicke appear in the three-part series as well.

Also on Prime, Jessica Raine is back in The Devil’s Hour as social worker Lucy Chambers, who wakes up every night at exactly 3:33am and is met with terrifying visions connected to a string of murders.

It also stars former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi as a mysterious criminal who can see into the future.

The show returns in October — and a third series has also been announced.

Slow Horses — the story of dysfunctional MI5 agents and their obnoxious boss navigating the tricky world of espionage — returns for a fourth season.

Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden and Kristin Scott Thomas star. The first episode will be available from September 4, with further episodes arriving each week on Apple TV+.

The streamer will also unveil La Maison, a French-language drama featuring two families trying to dominate in the cut-throat world of fashion.

The stakes are high when a viral video emerges of a star designer up to no good — leaving his brand hanging by a thread.

Starring For Your Eyes Only actress Carole Bouquet and Lambert Wilson, the show hits screens on September 20.

Finally, Disney+ will present its long-awaited adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Eighties bonkbuster Rivals.

Starring David Tennant, Aiden Turner, Danny Dyer and Emily Atack, the eight-part series is set against a backdrop of the power-grabbing social elite.

Events come to a head when rivalry between MP Rupert Campbell-Black and TV boss Tony Baddingham reaches boiling point.

The series will be available to stream later in the autumn after its debut in the US.
