Lee Carsley has been appointed England interim coach, the Football Association said on Friday.
Carsley has been manager of the England Under-21s since 2021, and won the European Under-21 Championship in 2023.
He takes charge of the senior side after Gareth Southgate resigned last month following England’s defeat in the Euro 2024 final to Spain.
“It’s an honour to step up and lead this England squad on an interim basis,” Carsley said in a statement.
“As I am very familiar with the players and the cycle of international football, it makes sense for me to guide the team while The FA continues the process to recruit a new manager.”
