A CASH-SAVVY mum has wowed social media users with her epic bathroom makeover on a budget.
As money-strapped Brits are looking to spruce up their homes without spending a fortune, one mum, Victoria Caroline, has revealed how she transformed her bathroom for just £300.
According to Victoria, even though they were planning to rip out the bathroom next year, she couldn’t bear the thought of seeing the dull state for another 12 months until the proper renovation.
”I just couldn’t live with this bathroom for another year,” the DIY-loving mum explained in the video.
Armed with all the necessary tools, Victoria first covered the sink and the surrounding walls with some cloth and sprayed the taps and the bath handles with black paint from Amazon.
This change, though simple and cheap, instantly made made the space look more lush – and anyone can do it, even if they lack confidence and skills in the DIY department.
”It won’t wash away its metal paint, if the taps are sanded down properly, primed then sprayed black topped with a matt lacquered you will have no problem at all,” she praised the product in the comments.
Victoria, who shared the jaw-dropping glow-up on her page, @victoriacaroline.home, also tackled the ”grotty shower curtain” which had become ”a health hazard”.
After sanding down the ceiling – which she described as ”an absolute b***h” – the crafty mum transformed it with two coats of white paint.
The epic makeover also included removing the silicone around the bathtub – whilst she admitted it was ”controversial”, the mum was keen to paint the tiles from white to a chic beige shade.
Determined to achieve the ultimate ”spa vibes”, Victoria – who shares the home with six others – then reapplied the silicone and attached matt black loo roll holder and other fittings to the wall.
All of the products, she said, had been purchased from the online retailer, including a towel rail for £17.99 and an extendable bath tray for £35.68.
The mum had also ordered a sleek shower screen with black elements – and although this was a two-person job, she said installing it wasn’t too difficult.
”It was easy, it comes in two parts. You silicone the back of the frame, fit it with a few screws, then lift the door in – recommend two people – then screw three small screws through the back of frame to hold door.”
Proudly showing off the results, Victoria said: ”I set a £300 budget for this as my fiancé is tearing it all out next year and fitting brand new everything.
”I’ve spent just over £70 on paint, £86 on shower screen and £150 on accessories, including a bamboo wooden cabinet from Dunelm.

Most of us have old half-used tins of paint in the garage, but they’re often forgotten about. However, there may be enough in the pot to paint a feature wall in another room, and you won’t have to spend a penny.
Freebies
It’s worth checking your local Facebook Marketplace, or Freecycle, to see what other people are getting rid of. As they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. And if someone’s planning to revamp a room, they might want to get rid of a sofa, or a coffee table, which you could use to give a lounge a new look.
”That’s taken me to £306 – so I am happy with this result and only being £6 over the budget.”
The gorgeous makeover has clearly left many open-mouthed, as hundreds raced to comments to praise Victoria for the fabulous DIY work.
