We are pleased to confirm that the Community Belong initiative will return this season, in partnership with Rovers Down South.
Community Foundation General Manager JJ Henderson commented, “The Community Belong was a fantastic initative to be involved in last season and saw the door open to so many young people who may have not been given the opportunity to attend matches otherwise. We can’t thank Rovers Down South enough for all their support and contributions, as well as the Football Club too.”
Rovers Down South Committee Member, Jeff Macdonald said, “Fans are the heart of any club, with young fans vital to a healthy future. This is why Rovers Down South are delighted to continue our relationship with the Community Foundation and the Club to encourage and support more fans to attend games on a regular basis and inspire a strong, lifetime relationship with their local team. We have been funding free ticket schemes for vulnerable families and younger fans since 2008 and are excited to see its continued growth.”
The ever-increasing costs associated with attending football matches is the greatest barrier to people coming through the gates. The Community Belong is a collective of projects aimed at supporting vulnerable families and engaging young people through the power of sport and the power of Raith Rovers.
The Raith Rovers Community Foundation works with local schools, community groups and charities to identify families facing challenges such as poverty, bereavement, loss, divorce, separation, or other hardships. These families receive complimentary tickets and food/drink vouchers for our matches, meaning that no child is left without a chance to go to the football.
With the support of Raith Rovers Football Club, the Foundation looks to further engage young people from the Community Club and the broader community, providing opportunities for them to attend 2024/25 matches with their peers and under the supervision of their fantastic staff.
Restarting this project again is designed to bring the community together, support vulnerable families, and nurture a love for football amongst young people. By leveraging donated and purchased tickets, and with the support of volunteers and community partners, this initiative promises to create lasting positive impacts.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Community Foundation on bringing more young people to Stark’s Park and ensuring that money is no barrier to any child.
