Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Wednesday, August 7, 2024 – The Short Track Super Series was finally here along with the Rumble on the Seaway 75 paying $10,055 to win. The Lamoureux Pumping Sportsman Series was also on the card along with the Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock.
The Rumble on the Seaway 75 saw Matt Sheppard quickly taking the lead over Brianna Ladouceur and Kevin Hamel. Sheppard got into heavy traffic by lap 10 as Stewart Friesen and David Hebert started to make some noise. Traffic was a factor as Friesen moved to second passing Hamel with 20 laps in the books. Leaders quickly reaches the halfway point as Sheppard was the leader over Friesen, Hamel, Hebert and Williamson completed the top 5. Friesen got closer to Sheppard with 30 laps to go. First caution was out on lap 56 as Joey Ladouceur slowed down. Sheppard to the lead with Hebert moving to third as a second caution came out on lap 57. Sheppard pulled away from Friesen and Hebert. With 10 laps to go, Friesen was on the backbumper of Sheppard as leaders got back with slower cars. Sheppard retained the lead and won his second Short Track Super Series in a row after Mohawk yesterday.
Adam Rozon took the lead in the Lamoureux Pumping Sportsman Series as Cedric Gauvreau and Fire Swamp were behind the leader. Gauvreau was quick using the inside lane and passed Rozon for the lead on lap 4. Gauvreau pulled away from the field as he got to heavy traffic by lap 15. Gauvreau dominated the caution less feature, a second win in two nights for Gauvreau.
The Rick Ranch had a 25-lap feature to conclude the evening as Antoine Dumouchel had flames at the initial start and red was out, no harm for Dumouchel, on the next start, Adrian Black was the leader over Carl Gorry and Christopher Cordeau. A lap 5 restart was good for Cordeau taking the lead. Christopher Proulx had a good card and passed Cordeau for the lead. At the end, Cordeau got the win.
We are back this Sunday night with Fan appreciation night as general admission will only be 5$! A full program is on the card as we will have a special guest racing with the Pro-Stock with Ken Schrader being in the field!
