Moment Team GB star is BOOED as Olympics 2024 taekwondo fight ends in controversy
TEAM GB star Bradly Sinden was booed as he won a hard-fought bout against Marko Golubic.
The Croatian thought he had landed a spinning head kick late in the fight and the referee went to check the scores.
Sinden – who has been a taekwondo referee – argued that he was not following the correct process, which the BBC commentary team agreed with.
Golubic was not awarded the points and the crowd booed as Sinden was able to see out the final few seconds in a deserved win.
British fans gave the Tokyo silver medallist, 25, a rousing reception as he earned a quarter-final spot.
Sinden went on to lose to Jordan’s Zaid Abdul Kareem in his semi-final and will now fight for men’s 68kg bronze later this evening.
Fellow Team GB star Tom Pidcock was booed by the French crowd after claiming gold in the Paris 2024 mountain bike event.
Pidcock pipped Frenchman Victor Koretzky to win, with the home hopeful having to settle for silver despite having led by 40 seconds at the halfway stage.
The Brit conjured a daring move to overtake Koretzky, with the pair almost colliding as Pidcock moved into the first place.
Not impressed with the risky move made against their man, many in the Parisian crowd booed Pidcock.

Speaking to the BBC’s Hazel Irvine after his triumph, Pidcock broke down in tears while referencing the boo boys.
The emotional star choked up as he said: “It wasn’t easy. I’m keeping my glasses on for a reason!
“The Olympics is so special. You never give up, in everything, and that’s what I had to do.
“I knew that Victor was going to be super fast in the last lap, even if I couldn’t get rid of him. So I knew it was going to be a big, big fight.
“The boos are a shame because that’s not really the spirit of the Olympics.
“But I do understand that the French are very passionate, they wanted Victor to win.
“That was understandable. They didn’t boo the rock that made me puncture.”
