Two promotions under his belt and a Scotland U21 international – Kieron Bowie has had an excellent start to his career as a professional footballer!
Born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, the young forward played youth football at Glenrothes Strollers and the Fife Elite Football Academy before joining the club he supported, Raith Rovers, after being spotted by John McGlynn and Paul Smith.
Aged just 16, he was training regularly with the Raith Rovers First Team before making his debut in a 4-1 win over Montrose in February 2019. Further appearances followed before he made his first professional start on the final day of the SPFL League One season, again against Montrose!
After gaining his first taste of senior football, Bowie kicked on and featured in all four of Raith’s League Cup fixtures making a claim for a starting place. He went on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals, setting up five, and helping Raith Rovers lift the League One title!
Following a string of impressive performances, he was snapped up by now-English Premier League side Fulham in July 2022.
Later that month, he joined English League Two side Northampton Town on a season-long – helping the Cobblers gain automatic promotion after finishing third in the table.
Kieron played 40 times in his first season at Northampton, scoring five times and adding three assists.
He clearly made a positive first impression during his year-long spell and re-joined Northampton Town for the 2023/24 season in League One.
Once again, Bowie adapted to the step up in division, adding another 45 appearances (41 starts) and helped Northampton to a 14th-place finish in their first season back in League One. He scored nine times with six assists and won the club's Goal of the Season award for his long-range strike against Lincoln City.
On the international front, the Scot has played nine times for the Under-21s, making his debut in June 2021 against Northern Ireland.
Bowie has played his part in the Scotland U21’s current European Championship qualifying campaign. He has featured in five out of six matches so far and has played a pivotal role in their campaign to date, with the young Scots currently sitting second in Group B, three points behind Spain.
Bowie’s first Scotland goals came in a 3-1 victory over Hungary in October where he bagged a brace. Four days later, the striker grabbed the winner in a 2-1 win over Malta.
In the next step of his promising career, the 21-year-old becomes the Hibees’ eighth signing of the summer transfer window – penning a four-year deal to the Club!
