There’s been a lot of Fortnite news of late but this one is a little unusual. The new season of the Battle Royale (Chapter 5 Season 4) has had its time brought forward by three hours – or more accurately, Season 3 will now end three hours earlier and it’s not clear why.
In a post on X, the Fortnite Status account said, “Heads up everyone, it’s almost time!
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 now ends on August 15th at 11 PM ET, and we’ll go into maintenance for v31.00 shortly after.
To gas through the finish line, all players will have their next three levels of XP Supercharged from August 13th at 9 AM ET til the end of the season!”
Rather than the new Season actually being earlier, it could well be that the maintenance downtime for Season 4 is anticipated to be longer. This is the first time Fortnite has brought the curtain down at 11 PM ET as far as our failing memory can recall.
Obviously, if you are a bit last minute completing all your Season 3 tasks, this might be a little bit annoying and Epic, who has already had one player kickback this week regarding a mistake in the Item Shop with The Paradigm skin, has at least moved to mitigate this somewhat by giving the XP boost from the day before.

This will benefit players who need to complete stuff, but also, if you are well on top of matters it will be a welcome bonus for something that may well not have affected you.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has already had a lot of its secrets and best bits leaked and we are anticipating a heavy Marvel presence as we head into the Fall. It also means that we could be seeing the departure of Fall Guys quicker than we anticipated too, but we are sure they will be back before too long.
