Last month, it was announced that he started using an anti-gravity treadmill to help with his mobility.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Eamonn shared an update on his rehabilitation and admitted it had been “very tough”.
In his first video, the presenter is seen working out on the machine, saying: “Coming up to thirty minutes on anti-gravity treadmill. It’s been tough today. Not every day is easy, well few days are easy. It’s all about muscle memory. It trains my legs which aren’t forming any connection with my brain.”
He then posted another clip, reflecting on his recovery’s ups and downs: “Gosh, it is tough today. It is so tough. If you’d asked me a week ago, I’d be saying ‘I’ve made such an improvement’ but I regress.
“Sometimes the body plays ball, sometimes it doesn’t. But what I do know is if I stay on this and I do all that I’m supposed to, it can only get better.”
Eamonn continued: “But my goodness me, it is tough. It is tough. I’ve just done basically four hours of live news – that’s depressing enough [with] all that’s going on in the country. I hope wherever you are and whoever you are, you’re good and you stay safe.
“Do the right thing. People shouldn’t be threatened. People shouldn’t feel threatened either.”
H also shared: “But I’m on this [treadmill]. You do a lot of thinking when on something like this. I’m walking if you’re wondering what’s going on. I’m walking on this [treadmill].”
“I’ve got to do at least thirty minutes and as you can see I’m halfway there so I’ll stop talking,” Eamonn laughed before adding: “At least I laughed and can get on with it. Have yourselves a good day, stay safe and be good! “.
Eamonn’s health has been worsening since 2020 when he admitted to struggling with chronic back pain.
He was diagnosed with a dislocated pelvis and three slipped discs.
The star has been undergoing extensive physical therapy and compared his journey to re-learning to walk.
He went through a period of depending on crutches to walk and lost nerves in his right leg due to the injury.
In 2022, Eamonn was forced to step back from presenting duties to undergo necessary surgery.
In September 2023, he was seen eating ice cream in a mobility scooter – sparking fears he could no longer walk.
He revealed just weeks before the photo was taken he had undergone an operation on his back but fell down the stairs two weeks into his recovery.
