After further review, SWISS has decided to extend the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut until and including Tuesday, 13 August. The airspace over Iran, Iraq and Israel will be avoided as well until 13 August. Additionally, SWISS offered its local employees the option to leave Israel.
“We very much regret the inconvenience this may cause our passengers, but the safety of our passengers and crew always takes top priority. Affected passengers will be contacted directly. Of course, we offer free rebooking to a latera date or a full refund of the ticket price.” says the airline.
“We are continuing to monitor the situation in the Middle East. Our specialists are evaluating all available information and are in constant contact with the relevant authorities in Switzerland and on site.”
Passengers affected by these disruptions are advised to book flights for later dates or request a refund.
Germany’s Lufthansa Group and its unit Swiss International Air Lines have cancelled all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv with immediate effect since August 1st.
Lufthansa said Monday it was canceling flights to Tel Aviv, Beirut and Tehran through August 12. Lufthansa also said Wednesday that it is suspending services to Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan, until August 13, The German group added that its airplanes will avoid using Iranian and Iraqi airspace until that date.
