OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Oklahoma City Zoo's newest five male African lion cubs are set to make their habitat debut on Saturday, August 10.
Dunia and her five cubs; Herman, Lou, Pascal, Hugo, and Henri, born on May 20, will finally be able to explore their outdoor habitat at Lion Overlook and get comfortable with their new surroundings.
According to the zoo's carnivore care team, the cubs are now big enough to navigate and play in the area with their mom, Dunia, safely. However, due to the summer heat the cubs will still have access to their indoor area.
Guest are encouraged to visit the zoo daily from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., if the weather allows, to see Dunia and her cubs in their outdoor habitat.
Since their birth, Dunia and her little cubs have been bonding away from the public eye. Introductions with the cubs and the rest of the lion pride which includes; Hubert also known as "Huey," Dunia's sister, Moto, and Dunia's older cubs, will take place in the next several months.
OKC Zoo has celebrated the birth of 21 lions since the opening of their Lion Overlook in 1997.
