Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Wednesday to profusely thank a commentator on Fox News over his vigorous defense of the former president's legal situation.
"Thank you to Hal Lambert for his very strong words of wisdom during a Neil Cavuto interview on FoxNews," said Trump, who is currently at his South Florida resort while his running mate, J.D. Vance, campaigns for him in the Midwest. "I especially liked his strong support for JD Vance, who has really come on strong, and is doing a fantastic job of exposing the Country threatening dangers of Kamala and her absolutely horrible V.P. choice."
"Would be the destruction of our Country as we know it!!!" Trump added.
Lambert, a GOP megadonor who previously backed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president before switching to Trump, has previously claimed that Trump's criminal conviction in New York will only increase his electoral prospects. In his interview with Cavuto, he doubled down, continuing to attack the felony business records case as unfair.

"I don't think there was any way to avoid what was transpiring," Lambert said, absolving Trump's lawyers of blame and attacking Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as a "Soros-backed" prosecutor (this is not true) and a jury pool that is "90 percent the other party." He further complained that Democrats "lose credibility" when they repeatedly attack Trump.
In response to Cavuto's claims that Republicans are being hypocritical for complaining about the legal problems Trump faced when they sought to impeach former President Bill Clinton for false claims made about an extramarital affair, he responded, "as Republicans, we weren't trying to put Bill Clinton in jail."
