‘Predatory’ female cop, 21, who sexually abused girl, 15, in home & car months after becoming an officer is spared jail
A ‘PREDATORY’ female cop sexually abused a teenage girl in her home and car just six months after becoming an officer.
Darcy Woods-Broady, 21, abused the 15-year-old victim over an eight-month period between October 2022 and March 2023.
The Gloucestershire Constabulary constable admitted seven crimes against the girl, including inciting her to engage in both non-penetrative and penetrative activity.
Woods-Broady was arrested in March last year and immediately suspended – just six months after joining the force.
Digital devices seized by colleagues found ” a significant quantity of messages, images and videos” exchanged between the cop and her victim.
She subsequently admitted she had been in a sexual relationship with the victim and knew the victim was 15 at the time.
Worcester Crown Court heard the abuse took place at a number of locations including PC Woods-Broady’s home and in her car.
But she avoided a prison sentence for seven sexual offences today.
Woods-Broady was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years.
She was also made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
IOPC Director of Operations Steve Noonan said: “While she did not meet the victim through her policing duties and the offences committed were outside of work, PC Woods-Broady’s actions amounted to predatory behaviour on a child for her own sexual gratification.
“She has now faced the consequences of her conduct at criminal court.
“We directed the investigation by Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Professional Standards Department and I am grateful to their officers for their professionalism in helping to achieve this rightful outcome.”
Woods-Broady, who has since resigned from the force, will now face a gross misconduct hearing.
