TOPEKA (KSNT) - Derek Schmidt wins the Republican nod for Kansas's 2nd Congressional District race.
Schmidt will represent the Republican party in the race to fill the 2nd Congressional District seat. This seat is currently held by Jake LaTurner, who announced he will not be seeking reelection in 2024. LaTurner served two terms in Washington D.C.
Schmidt beat opponents Jeff Karhs, Michael Ogle, Shawn Tiffany and Chad Young. After winning this Primary Election, Schmidt will go head to head with either Democrat Nancy Boyda or Matt Kleinmann at the General Election in Tuesday, Nov. 5.
