CHOOSING the right baby name for your child can be an extremely difficult decision for many parents.
One mum shared how an autocorrect mistake actually helped name their son after she couldn’t settle on a name.
After the couple fell in love with the name, they later discovered there was a lingerie range with the same name that they chose – but it didn’t cause them to regret it.
Taking to Reddit, the mum said: “I was almost due and my husband and I couldn’t agree on a name.
“So I was just texting him EVERYTHING at this point trying to get him to say yes to something that way we had at least a starting point.
“I went to type ‘Aiden’ and it autocorrected to ‘Auden’, we loved it.
“Sometimes if I want to sound fancy I say we named him after the poet (who I only found out about while trying to make sure Auden wasn’t the name of a notorious serial killer or something).”
While they stand by their choice of name, they have discovered it is also an underwear range in America.
The mum shared: “Unfortunately, now there is a women’s intimates line at Target called ‘Auden’.
“Go figure.”
Many people loved the name Auden and joked about the reference to the Target collection.
One said: “May your son support the girls in his life as well as Auden supports my girls.”
Another added: “i actually really like auden. (: way better than aiden, actually.”
A third commented: “Love this story, and the name! I know the line at Target exists and I’ve seen it numerous times, but honestly I never even connected them in my brain 
“It’s never made me like the name any less.”
And one wrote: “No, but why is Auden my new favourite name, depending on how it is pronounced?”

At 35 weeks pregnant, by far the trickiest part of pregnancy for me in the past few months (minus the insomnia and countless night-time wee breaks!) has been trying to decide on a baby name.
The dilemmas are endless…
My partner and I went for a private scan to find out the gender as early as we could – partly due to the fact we thought it would make baby naming so much easier because we’d only have to come up with a list of names for one gender rather than two.
How wrong we were…
I was absolutely thrilled to be told I was expecting the baby girl I’d already dreamed of, but being one of the last of my friends to fall pregnant, I’ve had countless conversations over the years with excited pals discussing their top baby names…something which I wish I could go back in time and un-hear.
With each friend mentioning at least 10 possible monikers, I can’t help but feel like several are now a no-go even though I know it’s something that none of them would mind in the slightest – it’s a total me problem!
The debate comes up time and time again on social media forums – can you choose the same name that was a “potential” for a friend’s baby?
It’s a very divisive topic and opinions are always mixed…and I don’t want to be THAT person.
While some will argue there’s thousands of other names out there to choose from, others will say you need to choose YOUR favourite…after all, there’s no guarantee that person will even have another baby.
Then there’s also the issue of finding a name you adore…only to research it online and read one negative comment amongst hundreds of positives that you just can’t shake off.
I made that very mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t reveal it because I don’t want to ruin it for others!) …only to see someone point out that it constantly gets autocorrected on a phone to something rather rude instead.
So, back to the drawing board we went..
Just five weeks to go and it looks like our little one is going to be known as ‘baby gal’ for a little while longer!
Seeking support, the mum took to the baby names thread in Mumsnet asking for advice on whether it is too late to change it now.
The mum said: “Before she was born we had a shortlist of three for a girl, when she arrived DH admitted one of them (my favourite) he just couldn’t get on board with as a first name. That has become the middle name (Cecilia).”
“Of the other two options we were totally undecided but eventually went for Elise, a name we’ve always really liked” she added.
Since announcing her choice to friends and family, the parents realised that they had been pronouncing the name wrong this whole time.
“We’ve now discovered that lots of people pronounce it Eh – leess (with the second part as ‘lease’ like in leasehold). We had always thought it was Eh- leez, and we much prefer that” she said
“We’ve found that almost everyone so far has pronounced it Eh – lease with a soft s. Are we wrong to pronounce it eh-leez?” she asked.
The mum explained that she found the whole name-picking process very stressful, and does not know whether to retract her decision and rename the baby.
