“Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” ranked as Netflix’s most-watched title of the week in its opening weekend.
The “SpongeBob” spin-off film brought in 12.8 million views from its Aug. 2 release through Sunday, Aug. 4, per Netflix viewing figures, leading it to become both the most-watched title as well as the most-watched movie of the week.
“Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” outpaced “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” which took the No. 2 spot on the English films list with 7 million views as well as “Don’t Breathe 2” and “Trolls Band Together,” which both scored 5.9 million views during the week of July 29.
On the TV side, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” debuted as the streamer’s most-watched TV show of the week with 7.4 million views, nearly doubling the 4.1 million views tallied up for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 after its first part dropped on July 18. Next up on the list was docuseries “Simone Biles Rising,” which took third place with 3.8 million views,” and limited series “Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam,” which took the No. 4 spot on the English TV list with 3.5 million views.
Joe Rogan’s new stand-up special, “Burn the Boats,” also debuted as the No. 7 most-watched TV show of the week with 2.5 million views, outpacing viewership for “The Decameron,” which scored 2.1 million views, “Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3, which tallied up 1.9 million views, and “Supacell,” which scored 1.4 million views. Still, viewership for Rogan’s special was exceeded by “Unsolved Mysteries” Volume 4 and “Too Hot to Handle” Season 6, which brought in 3.1 million and 2.7 million views, respectively.
The second most-watched title of the week was “Non Negotiable,” which sat atop the non-English films list with 8 million views in its second week on the most-watched list. It was followed by “Savi” and “Borderless Fog” in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots with 3.9 million and 3.7 million views, respectively. French thriller “Under Paris” spent its ninth week on the most-watched non-English films list in the No. 7 spot with 1.7 million views.
