Sir Keir Starmer and Elon Musk have clashed over the far-right riots after the Tesla and X owner claimed that a ‘civil war is inevitable’ in Britain.
In a response to a social media post from the prime minister, which criticised the violence against Muslims, the tech billionaire said: ‘Shouldn’t you be concerned about attacks on *all* communities?’. Musk then claimed that a civil war was coming. But Sir Keir stressed that there is no justification for comments like that, adding that ‘what we have seen is organised thuggery and has no place either on our streets or online’.
This came ahead of further violence engulfing parts of the UK, with police coming under attack in Belfast, Darlington and Plymouth. Four countries have issued safety warnings to citizens in or visiting the UK amid the violence.
