A WOMAN has blasted her mother for giving her a name that belongs to a stripper in her eyes – and it’s so embarrassing she wants to bring it up during therapy sessions.
The woman explained that at the time of her birth, her mum wasn’t on good terms with her biological father and didn’t let him have much of an input when it came to picking the moniker.
Although the woman is desperate to change her name legally, she is not financially able to afford it[/caption]However, much to her mother’s disappointment, the partner was quite fond of the name she’d come up – so she decided to alter it a little to annoy him.
Taking to Reddit’s ”tragedeigh” page – the term used to describe a name “deliberately misspelled or completely made up to appear more unique than it actually is” – the horrified woman said: “My name is Faythe Destiny.
”Old ladies love it, but almost everybody else does not.
“I obviously choose to leave out the Destiny in my day-to-day life, but it is so embarrassing to be putting that down on legal documents.
”Is this a tragedeigh? My mum’s answer for the spelling is that she didn’t want to give (my bio-dad) the ability to choose my name but liked the name, so she ‘changed’ it.
”I genuinely worry that it comes across as trashy, in bad taste, or worse.”
The author of the post explained she didn’t have the financial resources to legally change her name at the moment – so instead, she is trying to “learn to love it”.
Faythe Destiny added: “I’m stuck with my tragedeigh until that changes, and I didn’t pick my name.
”It seems like my options are to start stripping or change my name, thanks mum! I’m definitely bringing this up in therapy.”
Fellow Redditors flocked to share their thoughts, with one social media user writing: “Honestly even if it was straight up Faith Destiny, it’s still a tragedy.”
Another user chimed in: “It’s a tragedeigh, your mum did you dirty with the spelling.”
A third user chukled: “Faythe sounds like Forrest Gump trying to say Faith.”
One more user added: “Faith Destiny sure whatever. A bit heavy-handed on the abstract nouns but fine. Faythe is a tragedeigh.”
The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.
Recently, another pair of parents went viral after announcing the birth of their baby with a ‘’rude’’ moniker.
Unfortunately for the little, the proud duo also shared the name on a huge birth announcement sign, reading: “Welcome to the world Annaly, 7lbs 10oz.”
According to nicebabyname.com, Annaly is an Irish name and their variation of the female name Annaleigh, which means ”light” or ”grace”.
The site explained: ”It is a perfect choice for parents looking for a unique and timeless name for their daughter.”
However, despite the adorable meaning, social media users have pointed out that when you write the name down, it looks like something very rude.
One joked: “Not the traditional way to give birth, but I guess to each their own!”
Another chuckled: “I’ve never heard of a baby being born that way before…”
A third chimed in: “This is my other daughter, Orally.”
