Monica Vinader launches first fully traceable aquamarine collection

Demi-fine jewellery brand Monica Vinader has announced the launch of its first fully traceable aquamarine collection, Odyssey, in partnership with Zimbaqua, Africa’s first gemstone mine managed and mined by a women only team, located in Karoi, Zimbabwe.

The Odyssey collection is crafted with bold cuts of faceted aquamarine set in 100% recycled 18ct gold vermeil and includes five styles: a cuff, necklace, cocktail ring and two earrings.

Rooted in the brand’s ancient cultural references, each sculptural piece is inspired by the “depths of the sea and the captivating hue of blue”.

Latin for ‘seawater,’ the stone ranges in hue from almost translucent to vivid, greenish-blue. The collection will be available for sale from today (5 August 2025) at select boutiques in London and New York, Nordstrom and online.

The partnership with Zimbaqua comes after the launch of Monica Vinader’s consumer-facing Product Passport in 2022, so customers can have visibility into the people that make their jewellery, the material origin and their full sustainability credentials.

Without full traceability back to the mine, companies cannot ensure they are sourcing responsibly regarding the conditions of workers, community effects, and environmental impacts of the suppliers with which they do business.

The partnership marks the next step in the brand’s journey towards total supply chain traceability and transparency, one that the group hopes will inspire the industry to follow suit.
