Javaughn Young-White is filing for custody.
The 27-year-old guitarist and father of 5-year-old daughter Adeya Nomi with Kehlani filed court documents asking for full custody, claiming that the 29-year-old “After Hours” singer is in a cult.
The two dated from 2018 to 2019.

“Adeya was born through a home birth orchestrated by what I would describe as a cult that she belongs in,” he wrote in the documents, via People. “Due to the fact that Adeya was born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hospital, my name is not on Adeya‘s birth certificate.”
He alleges that he’s requested his name be added to his daughter’s birth certificate for five years, but has yet to hear back from the singer. She also won’t give him their daughter’s social security number, and says he’s not sure Adeya even has one.
He also alleges that the group controls Kehlani‘s actions and their behavior “including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.”
He says that the cult leader convinced Kehlani that he was a danger to their daughter and that he would kill her, and that she should block him from seeing Adeya for months.
He also alleges that the cult leader has “numerous accusations of committing sexual assault” against women and young girls, and that Kehlani will leave their daughter with “random strangers” who are also members of the cult, including the leader.
He adds that when their daughter is left with other people, she’s allowed to sleep in a bed with them and is given a bath by strangers in the cult. He also alleges that Kehlani lets a member of the cult they call “Messiah,” an adult woman, take baths with Adeya while the woman is under the influence of psychedelic drugs.
He is asking the court to establish his paternity so he may exercise all his rights as the father to Adeya, and is request child support.
Kehlani returned with her first solo music in two years this summer.
