Riley County sends out proposed property tax notices

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - The Riley County Clerk's Office announced it has started mailing public hearing notices with 2025 property tax information to local residents.

On Friday, Aug. 2, the clerk's office started sending out tax hearing notices to residential, commercial and personal property owners. The county doesn't expect to raise its property tax rate to meet the budget. However, some taxing entities in the county have hearings to exceed their budgeted tax revenue.

An entity is revenue-neutral if they don't need to collect more taxes to meet their budget. Of the entities expected to raise their revenue neutral rate (RNR), the City of Manhattan is proposing raising their property tax rate above the RNR by more than 11%.
