Celtic legend Chris Sutton has told Matt O’Riley he should be setting his sights higher than Brighton & Hove Albion.
O’Riley is wanted by a host of clubs this summer, including Atalanta and Southampton, but Brighton are now holding talks with Celtic to try to agree a deal.
The Seagulls, backed with Premier League cash, could make Celtic an offer for the Danish midfielder that they cannot refuse.
Celtic legend Sutton though does not think that O’Riley should be agreeing to a move to Brighton.
He urged the midfielder to set his sights higher and consider staying at Celtic to have another campaign in the Champions League.
Sutton wrote on X: “With the greatest respect to Brighton who are a brilliantly run club I think Matt O’Riley should set his sights higher.
“I’d like to see him give it one more go in the Champions League with this current Celtic team.
“So unless it’s a big enough move stay one more season.”
Celtic have already rejected multiple offers from Italian Serie A side Atalanta for O’Riley this summer.
