AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The City of Austin temporarily closed Barton Springs Pool Sunday evening after a heavy rainstorm.
The city said the pool closed due to reduced visibility after minor erosure from a rainstorm Sunday resulted in cloudy water conditions and limited lifeguard operations. The city sent out the closure notice shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.
It's unclear if Barton Springs will reopen Monday, but the city said updates on the pool's status will be posted online.
Rain and thunderstorms moved over the Central Texas region Sunday afternoon, including much of the Austin metro area. According to the First Warning Weather Team, heavy downpours dropped 2.6 inches of rain in the Waller Creek area on the UT Campus.
Barton Springs is typically open every day from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., with "swim at your own risk" and "guarded swim" at certain hours of the day.
A list of other pools and their hours is also available online.
