Here are all the dragonriders who appear in 'House of the Dragon' season 2

Ulf the White pops up a few times throughout the second season. He witnessed the hanging of the ratcatchers after the murder of Targaryen toddler, Jaecaerys, and he was also in the bar when Aegon took his new Kingsguard knights out for a drink.

During the boozy night, Ulf quietly explains to the table that his father was Baelon the Brave, which makes him the illegitimate brother of Daemon and Viserys Targaryen.

In episode seven, Ulf reluctantly heads to Dragonstone after some encouragement from his drinking buddies. But he flees through the caves when Vermithor reacts badly to the crowd of Targaryen bastards.

During his escape, he comes face to face with Silverwing — who, luckily for Ulf, doesn't burn him alive. He's later seen flying Silverwing above King's Landing, which terrifies the guards because they think they're under attack.

While Ulf is on Rhaenyra's side for now, he defects to the Greens in the book during the Hightowers' siege of Tumbleton.

Hugh Hammer is another dragonrider who audiences have already met. He's the blacksmith whose daughter is suffering from an illness in the first few episodes of season two.

Hugh briefly explains that his mother was Saera Targaryen, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen's ninth daughter.

His role in the series so far has been to shine a light on the smallfolk, and to show how normal people are affected by the war. But things will change for Hugh when he becomes a dragonrider.

In episode seven, Hugh answers Rhaenyra's call and travels to Dragonstone, and he's present when the huge dragon, Vermithor, starts burning the bastards alive in the cave.

During the chaos, he distracts Vermithor from killing someone — and the dragon stops attacking as soon as it sets its eyes on Hugh. The dragon, nicknamed the "Bronze Fury," will be a deadly weapon under Hugh's control.

Like Ulf, Hugh eventually betrays the Blacks in "Fire and Blood" and sides with the Greens during the battle of Tumbleton.

In season two, the show developed Corlys Velaryon as a character by introducing two brothers, Addam and Alyn of Hull, who are two shipwrights in the Velaryon army.

They are also Corlys' bastard children, which the Sea Snake struggles to come to terms with.

When the call goes out for dragonriders, Addam bonds with Seasmoke — the dragon who was previously owned by Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan).

In episode six, Seasmoke chases Addam from a beach into a forest. While it looks like the dragon is about to eat the shipwright, it simply sits in front of him.

At the end of the episode, Rhaenyra gets word that Seasmoke has a new rider, and she flies out on her dragon, Syrax, to meet Addam.

Episode seven starts with their confrontation, and Addam quickly pledges allegiance to Rhaenyra. And he's later brought to Dragonstone to become part of her army.

In the book, Alyn of Hull is not as fortunate as his brother. It details how he attempted to bond to Sheepstealer, but the dragon rejects and burns him.

In the show, Alyn doesn't get the chance to try and bond with a dragon, because Sheepstealer is in the Vale, and Seasmoke finds Addam by chance.

Although Alyn doesn't get to ride a dragon into battle, like his brother, his story doesn't end there.

Corlys recognizes the brothers as rightful Velaryons, and Alyn is given control of the Velaryon fleet.

After Sheepstealer rejected Alyn, a young girl called Nettles eventually charmed the dragon by killing sheep and leaving their bodies for it to eat. It's not explained whether she has Targaryen blood, or if she's just clever enough to use the unconventional tactic.

Nettles hasn't appeared in "House of the Dragon," which is strange since it has already introduced the other potential dragonriders.

"House of the Dragon" excludes her, and it's not the first time important characters from the books have been left out. Prince Daeron Targaryen and Maelor Targaryen are absent from the series.

Nettles' story is given to Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell), who goes looking for Sheepstealer in episode seven after hearing rumors of a dragon that lives in the Vale.

It takes her a while to track the beast down, but she eventually comes face-to-face with Sheepstealer during the final moments of episode eight.
