A total of three people were arrested for living in Cyprus illegally during police raids which took place between Friday and Sunday morning.
The arrests were made as part of a wider operation by Famagusta police which, its spokesman Steve Theodoulou said, was carried out with the aim of “preventing and fighting serious and organised crime”.
In total, 58 properties were searched, and 37 vehicles were stopped, leading to the three arrests.
Theodoulou said that detention and deportation orders will be secured against the three individuals, and that, given the fact they were all employed, cases will also be brought against their employers as it is an offence to employ an illegal immigrant.
