Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority has reported that at least 22 people have lost their lives, and dozens more have been injured due to heavy rainfall and resulting floods across the country.
Geo News, on Sunday, August 4th, cited the authority stating that these floods have caused immense financial losses alongside fatalities.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, these individuals have lost their lives due to incidents caused by heavy rainfall, landslides, house collapses, flooding, and lightning strikes.
The agency’s statistics indicate that 263 houses, hundreds of acres of agricultural land, dozens of bridges, and several kilometres of roads have been destroyed as a result of these incidents.
Local media reports indicate that these floods have resulted in casualties and damages in the provinces of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, seasonal rains and resulting floods have claimed dozens of lives and left hundreds injured in Pakistan since the beginning of this year.
According to statistics, floods in 2022 alone claimed 1,739 lives and caused over $30 billion in financial damages to the country.
The ongoing devastation underscores the urgent need for continued disaster preparedness and effective response measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters on vulnerable communities in Pakistan.
